2009 Summary:
This was an excellent 2nd year racing for me. After a few successful (and fun!) Cat 3, OPEN and Endurance races in 2008, I upgraded to Cat 2 toward the end of the year and was invited to ride for Cutters Bike Shop in Bethlehem PA (www.cuttersbikeshop.com) for 2009. Very excited to do well in 2009 for my new team, I took training seriously with excellent results following a popular periodization program. Unfortunately, I had several mechanicals and other issues this year due to "rookie" mistakes. Despite the issues, I still have managed to perform incredibly well in the H2H Series (www.h2hrace.com), taking 3rd for the series. Overall, the year was a great learning experience, loads of fun and I am looking to pick up the pace for 2010 in the Kenda Cup.
Outside of racing, I am very active with the Lehigh Valley Mountain Bikers (www.bikevmb.com) as well as the Jersey Off Road Biking Association, aka JORBA (www.jorba.org), leading group rides, volunteering at events and of course trail maintenance under IMBA guidelines. Mountain biking is also a family affair, with my wife participating actively in racing and the local clubs with me. Of course, our 4 year old daughter is usually at the races cheering us on. Other family hobbies we enjoy include snowboarding (yes my daughter snowboards!), camping, running and snowshoeing. |
